Get ready for my WordCamp US Workshop

In just over a week I’ll be presenting a workshop at WordCamp US titled “Turn Your Local WordPress Install Into Your AI Coding Assistant“. If you’re planning to attend, this post is for you!
I try to make my workshops as beginner friendly as possible, but there is some preparation you will need to do to be the best prepared for the workshop.
You’re going to need a working laptop, this is a hands on coding workshop.
You’re going to need to have Composer (a dependancy manager for PHP) and Node.js (JavaScript runtime environment) installed. You will also need to have Git installed, you can can run certain git commands.
If you can’t install these before the workshop, please try and find me in the days leading up to Friday, and I’ll do my best to help you get them installed on your laptop.
You’re also going to need a local WordPress installation, and an AI-powered code editor with MCP support.
I’ll be using WordPress Studio and VS Code with GitHub CoPilot on the free tier.
You are welcome to use any AI code editor/agentic tool you prefer, as long as it supports MCP.
